We all know the drill. Retailers hike prices in December, just to slash them in January. I wanted to see if the solar generator brands were playing the same game. This brings us to the question: Are January Sales Fake For Portable Power Stations?

I have been tracking the prices of the Jackery 1000 v2 and Bluetti AC180 daily since Christmas.

The results? The price war is real, and the Jackery 1000 v2 just hit its lowest price in history.”

The Data: What Happened This Week?

Jackery 1000 v2

November Price: £899

Boxing Day Price: £549

Current Price (Jan 5th): £449

Verdict: This is NOT a fake sale. This is a panic drop. Jackery is trying to strangle the competition by matching Bluetti’s price point. At £449, this unit is a steal (it was £900 two months ago!)

Bluetti AC180

November Price: £699

Boxing Day Price: £599

Current Price (Jan 5th): £449 (approx)

Verdict: Bluetti started the war, but Jackery has now caught up. The AC180 is still good (faster charging), but it is heavier than the Jackery.

My Buying Advice (January 5th Update)

Scenario A: You want Lightweight

Buy the Jackery 1000 v2.

Now that the prices are identical (£449 vs £449), the Jackery wins on portability. It is nearly 5kg lighter than the Bluetti. If you are carrying the Jackery to a campsite, your back will thank you.

Scenario B: You want UPS Backup

Buy the Bluetti AC180.

The Bluetti is likely the best option if you want to store this under a desk to power your WiFi in the event of a power outage because it offers “UPS Mode” (Uninterruptible Power Supply). For van life, though? At this pricing, the Jackery is now the best option.
